American Legion Riders Post 104 Join the Red Knights Motorcycle Club in Greeting and Visiting Veterans at Bay Pines VA Hospital

Saturday, December 29, 2007 the American Legion Riders of Post 104 joined local firefighters of the Red Knights M/C to visit veterans at Bay Pines. This is an annual event sponsored by the firefighters that the American Legion Post 104 Riders have traditionally supported.
Before the ride to Bay Pines riders from the Red Knights Firefighter Motorcycle Club and members of the American Legion Riders met at the Bay Pines Sports Bar. Once everyone was assembled they made the short ride to the domiciliary at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital. The staff was expecting them. Bill McGann printed t-shirts especially for the occasion and the firefighters and Legionnaires passed them out to the residents of the hospital.
It was an emotional afternoon as the veterans of the American Legion Riders walked the aisles of the hospital visiting the veterans of another generation. Everyone felt appreciated, both veterans living in the domiciliary and those visiting. Special thanks are due to the courageous firefighters of Pinellas county who sponsor this event each year.
A cookout for the residents was planned for April 19, 2008. A flyer will be mailed out before the event to remind everyone.
After the event most of the riders went to the post to greet Dan Holden. Dan is getting ready to depart on his third deployment to Iraq. Good luck brother and we pray for your safe return.
