American Legion Riders Post 104
Participation in the Seminole Eagles #4147
3rd Annual Jimmy Durante Children's Fund
"Kruise For Kids" Poker Run
March 18, 2006

In Preparation for our Poker Run Saturday, Big Bob, Joe Arms, Paula Arms and the Saint started early. They went to the Chili Blaze in Pinellas Park and destroyed many beans and beers.
There were many vendors and a huge selection of chili to choose from. The beer wagon was kept busy throughout the evening as people attempted to put out the fire from their chili tasting.
This year they had the bikes park back in the boondocks. This was probably because of the confusion on exiting last year. Pedestrians just wouldn't get out of our way.
The next morning we all met at Seminole Eagles #4147 for the Poker Run. Breakfast was served starting at 9 AM. You could smell the bacon from the parking lot.
There were Legion Riders from several different posts. Many came from Tampa.
We kept the friendly staff busy serving breakfast, either bacon and eggs or wheaties in a can.

After pigging out and playing horseshoes we mounted up and began our Poker Run.
Next stop was Eagles #3452. We got there earlier than expected and the club didn't even have a bartender handy. Things had to go by the honor system for a while.

After a short ride we rolled into Fraternal Order of Eagles #4013. Again we were met by friendly staff and made to feel right at home.

Our next stop was Eagles #4250. By this time we were all thirsty, again and beginning to get mean. That's what happens when a bunch of bikers start getting hungry. We were in luck, the great staff at #4250 heard us coming and had burgers and dogs on the grill.

After wolfing down a lot of burgers and consuming a few gallons of beer we left Eagles #4250 for our last draw of the day. We drew our last cards at Eagles #3258 in Pinellas Park.
By this time everyone was a little worn by all the city traffic. We had a good time visiting with the staff and running the barmaids ragged. Then it was time to move on.

The run ended up where it began, at Seminole Eagles #4147. The club had an enormous feed of Chicken and Baby Back Ribs. Everyone had a good time and the big winners were Jimmy Durante's Kids.
