Welcome Home 2008

Lance Corporal Mike Delancey - USMC
The American Legion supports our troops deployed around the globe. The Legion has a long tradition of honoring those serving and those who have served. It was a great honor today for the members of the American Legion Post 104 to host a welcome home celebration for recently returning veterans.
It is a dangerous world we live in today. Many nations are being held hostage by religious extremist throught out the middle east. Nations which chose to attack our nation on September 11, 2001. It is a honor to welcome home those young volunteers who put their lives on the line to defend our way of life. We are all grateful for this new generation of patriots who have stepped forward and sacrificed so much to keep this country free and spread democracy to those places who have never experienced it.
Today the American Legion Post 104 had the distinct honor of welcoming home and thanking several of those courageous warriors who stood on the front lines of today's war on terrorism. Among them were Captain Ondrea Albert, Sergeant Chad Harreld, Lance Corporal Mike Delancey and former Marine and now Air Force Staff Sergeant Steve Wilson. SSG Wilson's son, Luke, is presently carrying on a tradition of service to his country as a United States Marine. Our nation owes these men and women a debt that can never be repaid.
Members of the American Legion Riders arrived early to prepare for today's event. They began at 4 am barbecueing pork and chicken. Members of the post brought in side dishes of beans, potatoe salad and slaw. By time the guests began arriving everything was ready to go.
Special thanks go out to all the Legion Riders and our chef Nick and Bob Gleason for the great feast.
Everyone had a great time and if anyone went home hungry it was their own fault.
A slideshow of the event can be seen here.
